Relatively quick one today, but that doesn’t make this game any less awesome. In the lead-up to the UK Games Expo, today we’re going to be looking at Spaghettin, a small tin-on-the-go dexterity game from Alley Cat Games which is really cool, surprisingly difficult, and probably the best travel dexterity game I’ve ever seen.
In terms of your charts, the pieces are very small and you could literally play this on a plane, which is something you definitely can’t say about most dexterity games. Let me explain.

The concept of Spaghettin is incredibly simple. You pick up the spaghetti, which are pieces of sort of paracord, and you lay them all down into the tin. You then place the ingredients on top of the spaghetti, making sure that none of them touch the bottom of the tin.
One by one, you then have to remove those pieces of spaghetti so that none of the ingredients lay flat on the bottom of the tin. This is made even more difficult by the fact that the strings are different lengths, and things move an awful lot more than you think they do when you start tugging away at the spaghetti.
You keep going until someone touches the floor flat and, if you’re playing multiplayer, they’re out, or obviously otherwise you win. The whole game literally lasts about two minutes, if that, but it’s quick, it’s small, and it’s absolutely perfect for what it’s set out to do, and that is provide a dexterity game which is something anyone can play, that you can literally play anywhere.
My only gripe, and it’s a very familiar one, is that the lids of the Alley Cat tin games don’t stay on quite as well as you would like them to, and the chances of you finding all of the components loose at the bottom of your handbag, while not inevitable, aren’t as low as I would like them to be. Having said that, the components and presentation are wonderful, and everything is of high quality.
I know we’ve had travel dexterity games before, but this really does hit that bonus of literally being able to play anywhere at all. While it’s not the best dexterity game, and it’s not even the best Alley Cat tin dexterity game, this is definitely the best travel dexterity game you can get.
