With my surgery being moved forward to today, I’ve made the decision not to start anything under the Summer Games Fest branding until I’m hopefully on the mend. That means Summer Games Fest will likely be month-long and start in August rather than the usual July.
After I made my last post, I thought long and hard about it, and I just figured this was probably a better way of doing things than making myself feel like I had to release content throughout July while recovering from surgery.
Hopefully, the surgery will go really well and I’ll be able to come back sooner than I think, but I want to give myself that time. I have still got a few “best of” posts planned for this period, but I’m really going to hit the reviews in earnest, hopefully in August once I’m on the mend.
With that in mind, I really wanted to squeeze in Hyper Dash, an outdoor garden dexterity game that my kids have absolutely loved playing over the recent spell of hot weather we’ve been having. It’s become a really fun outdoor activity for all of us. One of the reasons I wanted to get this review out now is that the summer holidays are approaching, people are looking to get outside a bit more, and this is actually a really fun game.
The concept is simple. The game comes with five discs, all different colours and each with a different number on them, which you place around the garden.

You then use the Hyper Dash baton (or wand, or whatever you want to call it). The baton calls out either a colour or a number, and you have to race around as quickly as you can to tag the correct disc. You can play with multiple players, set different difficulty levels, have it call out longer sequences, or even limit it to just colours or just numbers. It all works really well.
What’s also nice is that the whole thing fits back into the original box quite neatly, although I would have liked it to come with something like a drawstring bag or carry case instead. That would make it much easier to store in a shed or outbuilding without having to keep the cardboard box. As usual, I’m not a massive fan of storing cardboard boxes outside because, even somewhere dry, they always seem to absorb moisture over time and end up deteriorating anyway.

That aside, Hyper Dash is a super fun outdoor game that works really well and is great for multiple generations. We’ve had a brilliant time with me and the kids all running around the garden playing it. Because you can place the numbered discs wherever you want, you can make each game as simple, as challenging or as unusual as you like, even adding a bit of a hide-and-seek element if you really wanted to.
It’s a really fun little game that I’d absolutely recommend if you’re looking for something active to do outdoors with the family, and I really wanted to squeeze this one in before my surgery.
