Tacta – First Impressions

UKGE Roundup 2025 Game 2

Tacta
 First Impressions

Tacta
is a really sweet little card game that actually came out a few years ago. And I’ll admit, it completely passed me by — as it did for most other people! This second edition has now been released by Osprey Games, and they gave it a massive push at the UK Games Expo. It was definitely one of the most talked-about games of the weekend.

Essentially, the game works by giving each player a set of cards. These cards have different shapes on their edges, and each shape has a number of points. The aim is simple: have the most points showing at the end of the game.

You can place cards on top of other cards, but only if the shapes match. So, if you’ve got a triangular edge, you’ll need to place it perfectly over a triangle on someone else’s card — without overlapping anything you’re not supposed to. It’s really easy to understand and explain in just a couple of minutes.

As with a lot of games I’ll be recommending, Tacta is a great one to just throw in a handbag and play on the go. At the UK Games Expo, they were giving out a special two-player promo version, which I managed to grab — and I’ll definitely be covering that properly soon, along with its full-fat sibling, in a more detailed review.

But in short: keep your eyes on this one. Its should be hitting retail stores imminently.
