Meta Game Spy Guy Game! – Spot the group member in the background of one of the photos.
If you were at the UK Games Expo, one of the hardest things to miss was the massive stand-sized version of Spy Guy Fantasy over at the Hachette stand. After some real-life searching, we managed to play the smaller version as well, so we can now give you our thoughts and let you know whether it’s worth tracking down. But if you’ve been in this group over the last few days, you’ll have seen people already asking about it — so the resounding answer is yes.
Spy Guy Fantasy is essentially Where’s Wally? (or Where’s Waldo? for our internationalmembers) made into a game.

The general rules are: there’s a dragon chasing you and your treasure, and you need to reach your treasure and get it back before the dragon catches up. Each turn, you flip over a card showing a number of items you need to find on the game board. You then have one minute to search for those items, placing magnifying glasses on them as you go.
Once you’ve found as many as you can — hopefully all of them — you move forward that number of spaces, with the dragon moving depending on how well you did.
It’s a really easy concept and great fun. It sits nicely alongside the MicroMacro series, but with a slightly different twist to the searching mechanic. Overall, it’s a really fun game, and I think I actually prefer the Fantasy version to the original that came out about a year ago — purely because I find the aesthetic more appealing.
Lovely stuff, and well worth a look if this sort of thing appeals to your little ones.
