A relatively quick one today — we’re looking at Nine Tiles Extreme from Oink Games.
I reviewed Pokémon Nine Tiles a little while ago, but that one’s annoyingly exclusive to Japan. So, I thought it was worth taking a look at a Nine Tiles game that’s actually a bit easier to get hold of in the West.
Nine Tiles Extreme plays very similarly to the others in the series. The twist here is that on each challenge card you either need to match all of the shapes or all of the colours.

You start with nine tiles, flip over a challenge card showing a 3×3 grid, and then, as quickly as possible, everyone races to recreate that grid using their own tiles. The catch? Each tile is double-sided, so there’s a lot of flipping and spinning as you try to get it just right. First person to complete the grid wins the round, and it’s the first to four points who takes the overall victory.
It’s really easy to learn, quick to play, and a lot of fun. The “Extreme” in the title doesn’t mean it’s harder than the Pokémon version — it just means sometimes you’re matching colours, sometimes shapes. Still, if you don’t already own a Nine Tiles game, this is a solid one to go for… and far easier to find than importing the Pokémon edition.
