Moose Match Mayhem

One of our UKGE purchases, this comes from the same creators as the popular Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and has a similar feel while the gameplay is different.

Everyone plays simultaneously. Each round, you all take a card facedown from the draw deck and flip them over at the same time. You then race to grab the card which helps you the most. If two people touch the same card at the same time, there is a moose coin to toss to decide who gets it.

Your goal is to collect three sets where a set is three cards of the same animal in the same colour (e.g. three white squirrels).

But watch out! If you get two matching yetis, you have to discard the cards you’ve collected (sets are always safe, though).

You also have to watch out for avalanche cards. If you touch any of the revealed cards when one of them is an avalanche…you lose the cards you’ve collected. This is easily done as the card background is pink just like the very useful wild cards that act as any animal for a set.

It’s very simple to grasp. We were a bit dubious when we started and ended up laughing a lot. It’s lucky as I hadn’t noticed it’s a 3-6 player game which means we’ll always need to rope in my husband or a visiting friend.

Verdict: it was quick, silly and good fun. Probably a good travel game as you don’t need a big play area. There is a bit of fighting over cards and you quite often lose the cards you’ve collected which some children might struggle with.
