Note: This is a short really early legacy review before I started posting longer form review in our Facebook Group.
After a disappointing play of the the Creepy Cellar expansion for Ghost Fighting Treasure Hunters this evening we are playing the second game that came direct from American Amazon and that is Last Defense.
The best way I can describe last defense is kinda “my first pandemic with a time limit”.
You pick characters, set out some trapped scientists and hit go. Using an ipad with a 20 minute time limit you navigate the town trying to save scientist’s trapped under rubble. Ever rubble icon needs 2 items to clear so you have to try and collect the correct items. Once you save a scientist they are added into your character and can be used in pairs to defeat the monsters invading the city.

Periodically throughout the game monsters are added and move around via the app announcing them in a news reader style announcement which works well and the kids loved.
If a monster lands on a space your in your drop everything and go back to the centre square.
Defeat all 4 monsters and you win.
Component are very high quality and the miniatures are great.
All in all we all thought this was brilliant. It’s quick and engaging without being overly complex. It introduces some well known board game mechanics to a younger audience which is good for little gamers.
I worried the time element could be stressful but it adds just enough to spice the game up and keeps things going. As the game only lasts 20 minutes it never outstay its welcome.
Both boys wanted to play again immediately and we probably will again tonight.
