Note: This is a short really early legacy review before I started posting longer form review in our Facebook Group.
Time for something kiddie with game 19 of the “Bailey Family Sorta Summer Board Game Bonanza “In a Flash Firefighters” played by myself and Jack(7) & Toby(4).
“In a Flash Firefighters” is a simple “race to get the hose pieces as quickly as possible” game for children. Essentially you simply have to find all of the matching hose pieces so that you can reach the hose to the fire as quickly as possible. Quickest wins.
What is nice is that there are starting points so you can handicap adults and older kids.

What was interesting though was how the game played out. In most race games I normally can win easily, then Jack(7) and then Toby(4) who normally gets bored because he isn’t quick enough. Today was a changeup.
I quickly realised you could cheese it by just looking for straight pieces. Toby noticed and realised you could just find all of the S pieces and link all of those together. This left Jack crushed by Toby in every game and even though he is normally excellent at games what we were both doing never “clicked”.
It’s okay, I can see this being fun for maybe really young kids and my boys enjoyed it briefly but I would not recommend it as once you work out the “cheat” it becomes very formulaic.
