Note: This is a short really early legacy review before I started posting longer form review in our Facebook Group.

So it’s been quite a while since I did any reviews and as usual, I get on a roll and start posting stuff, then life happens and suddenly a month has occurred as if from nowhere.

Both boys have levelled up (Jack(7) & Toby(4)) and with a handful of games in my sight at the UK Games Expo this weekend time to go through some other stuff we have been playing.

First is Gobblet Gobblers a game that is essentially naughts and crosses (tic tac toe) crossed with… Russian dolls.

Essentially you set out the board exactly like you would normally and one player is orange and one blue. Now the twist comes in that you have different sizes of characters and you can place larger pieces over smaller pieces or either your or the other player’s colour in the quest to get 3 in a row.

Pfft, I thought… “that’s a bit basic” I hear you cry… Well, let me tell you what started out as me thinking “this is a bit lame” quickly turned into one of the most intense and stressful 2 player games I have ever played. It is so simple yet so brilliantly difficult…

The fine line between trying to focus on what you are doing yet still trying to work out what the opponent is doing is simply perfect.

Needless to say, I sucked at it and Jack(7) beat me in a first to 7 contest only dropping 2 games.

It is hard to say why this game is so good but it really is and tbh is probably something you could knock up at home with some egg cups, some tumblers and some pint glasses 😛

Great Stuff.
