Board game "Drop It" by Bernhard Lurch and Uwe Rapp, featuring colorful geometric shapes on the box cover, published by Kosmos. Ideal for family game nights and strategic gameplay.

Today was the first day of our dexterity marathon pushing our family’s love/hate relationship with dexterity games.

Jack(6) had a play date so it was just Toby(3) today.

The game was Drop It! A game I had never played before. The general premise was you drop coloured shapes into a connect 4 style dropper and when they land you do not want matching colours or shapes. Scoring is then done by positioning and whether you touch special Scoring circles.

Using the standard rules this game is not easy and I found it one of the hardest dexterity games I personally have played that doesn’t involve flicking. There is def a bit of luck involved.

Toby(3) did however really enjoy it and it is quite exciting when you end up with a piece less than a mm away from something that would cause it to not score points.

We played a few games using some house rules as well (only shapes matter or only colour) to keep Toby engaged.

The wooden shapes are nice and dropping them in is a very pleasant tactile experience. I do have 2 moans however. Firstly is unlike Connect 4 there is no release so you have to turn the whole thing upside down to dump the pieces out and man do they scatter everywhere. Secondly there is no rubber padding on it just plastic so if you play this on a nice coffee table there is risk of scratching the surface.

We had some fun with this and it can definitely be used as a tool to play some different non official games (seeing who can stack the highest square tower). The official rules are hard and I could see it frustrating kids.

You probably already know if this is for you. We got the German version on super cheap from Amazon and printed out English rules.

Hesitant possible recommendation.
