Bugs in the Kitchen

Quick one tonight

As part of my newfound acceptance of games that are on sale in mainstream toyshops, I attempt to find more of them this time looking at “Bugs in the Kitchen” played by myself, Jack(7) and Toby(4)

“Bugs in the Kitchen” is a fairly simple game where you play on a grid separated by different cutlery. The game starts with a Hexbug (a little bug that moves around randomly) in the centre and the idea is that you roll a dice and then rotate one of the pieces of cutlery in an attempt to get the bug to end up in your area.

That’s essentially it. It’s a simple game but it’s actually a lot of fun and the way the bug works is super cool.

I think this would be a better game with a larger grid to be honest as usually, games are over after a few moves (that may be a positive for some). Equally if playing 2 players 100% choose areas on opposite sides of the board.

Component quality is good for it is but it does come in an irritating “old school kids board game doesn’t fit in a kallax shape.”

I liked it and it’s definitely worth a punt if on sale but it’s probably not enough of a game for a full-price buy.

EDIT: Thanks to the people below who have pointed out that the Hex bug eats batteries…
