Asmodee UKGE Round Up

UKGE Roundup 2025 Games 8, 9 & 10 Brick Like This

First up is Brick Like This, coming out later this year from Asmodee. It’s a team-based game where one player turns over a card showing a shape that needs to be built out of LEGO — but their partner can’t see the card. Instead, the person with the card must describe the shape using only words, while their teammate builds it as quickly (and accurately) as possible. The first team to get it right wins the round.

We really liked this one. It’s surprisingly difficult for such a simple concept, and while younger kids might find it a little frustrating, we thought it was a lot of fun. If you’re into LEGO, Brick Like This could be a real highlight when it lands later this year. Donkey Kong Jungle Speed

Also on the Asmodee open top Bus was Donkey Kong Jungle Speed — a new twist on the classic Jungle Speed, this time with a golden banana and Donkey Kong flair. Players flip over cards, looking for matching pairs, then scramble to grab the banana. It’s fast, frantic, and fun. While Jungle Speed isn’t usually my boys’ thing, fans of the original or the Donkey Kong IP will definitely find something to enjoy here. Interestingly, it features the old-school Donkey Kong art style — as opposed to the one in Mario Kart and on the newly released Switch 2 (which is making this a very expensive month…).

Finally, from Asmodee, there’s Battle of Hoth — one we really wanted to try, but sadly couldn’t book a demo for. It’s a 1v1 strategy game based on the iconic battle from The Empire Strikes Back, and essentially a Star Wars re-theme of the excellent Memoir ’44. Jack and I have played Memoir ’44 a few times, so this definitely caught our eye. Just a heads-up: the version seen in photos is the oversized demo copy — the final retail edition will be a more standard size when it releases later this year.
