Game #6 of our “UKGE ROUNDUP 2024” is “Robot Quest Arena,” which we played at the “Wise Wizard Games” stand and was one of Jack’s(9) favourite games from the whole weekend.
“Robot Quest Arena” is a deck-building-based arena battler that sees you pilot really cute robots and fight it out in an arena that is strangely reminiscent of a cute version of the cult TV program “Robot Wars.”
Each player starts the game in corners, and you draw up five cards. Using the abilities of these cards, you can attack other players, push other players, and more importantly, use your energy to buy things from the shop to improve your deck.
You gain points by being in the centre at the start of your turn, by destroying other robots, and through various card and special abilities. A nice addition is that when a robot is destroyed, it respawns as opposed to that player being out again, which means that no player ever has to sit out.

There are also traps around the arena and special tiles that do a variety of things. If you are interested in getting some of the expansion packs, there is a lot of variety to choose from.
This continues until there have been a certain number of robot deaths, and then the game finishes, and you count up all the points you have gained.
Production values are extremely high. The vinyl robots that come pre-colored are really nice and of extremely high quality. The board is big, has really good table presence, and everything is really chunky. There is a little bit of reading, but nothing that can’t be easily explained on a card-by-card basis, as nothing is permanently hidden from other players.
Jack absolutely adored this, and it probably ended up being his favourite game at the show. Wise Wizard Games was very kind to provide us with a review copy, which will be one of the first games to launch our summer marathon of reviews starting in a few weeks.
We also personally bought all of the expansions so that we have everything.
It’s not the cheapest, but based on what it comes with and the quality of the figurines, it was something I was happy to spend some money on.
Keep an eye out for our full review in a few weeks.
