Note: This is a short really early legacy review before I started posting longer form review in our Facebook Group.
Several weeks ago I went camping with Jack(7) and we played a few board games. My original plan was to feature these games in a “mini marathon” but sadly i did the first one and then the reality of camping in the cold with a 7 year old hit and I didn’t post the other 2.
Anyways ahead of Half Term I thought i would tie up loose ends.
So a very belated Game 2 of my “mini camping marathon from several weeks ago” was “Rail Road Ink”.
Rail Road Ink has been a Bailey family fave for a few years now and am quite suprised that i have never featured it before.
Rail Road Ink is a roll and write where you roll 4 dice giving a mixture of roads and rails. You then draw these on your grid doing your best to join up as many exits around the edge as possible, fill as many centre square, create a long rail and road and leave as few open ends as possible. 7 rounds in best score wins.

Its simple and was one of the first roll n writes i ever played with Jack.
Componenets are excellent l, boards are well made and dry wipe and the boxes are lovely packages.
Now this is where it gets a little confusing.
There a 2 version of Railroad Ink (Blue and Red) as well as 2 versions of the sorta sequal Rail Road Ink challenge (Yellow and Green).
These come with 2 mini expansions of extra dice each (that cant be bought seperately).
There are also 7 expansion packs sold seperately each of which come with a selection of expansions.
Now i have everything… cause i have board game impulse buying problems as im sure many of you have worked out by now… but really the blue version is the one worth getting and has the best (IMO) expansion.
Rail Road Ink is an outstanding Roll n Write that I would whole heartedly recommend.
Great stuff.
