My First Stone Age

Note: This is a short really early legacy review before I started posting longer form review in our Facebook Group.

The first of my board game cafe reviews is essentially the game we went to the cafe to play.

My First Stone Age has been on my hit list for a while but it is OOP and hard(expensive) to find on the secondary market. (Edit: the European language versions are more readily available).

The other day on a walk through the Alleyway lovingly called Jeffrey’s Passage, I looked through the window of the board game café and saw they had it.

Table booked for this afternoon and off we go. My First Stone Age is a relatively simple resource management game that does an excellent job of teaching some core gaming concepts to young kids.

You turn over a tile and move around the board collecting resources that you can then trade to buy huts. First to 3 huts wins. There are a few other things to spice it up such as the trading post and the wildcard dog mechanic

Its a fast-paced fun and simple and the pieces are gorgeous, big, chunky meeples.

It’s easy to understand and Jack(6) and Toby(3) were both fully engaged and fully understood.

It’s rare that I say I am annoyed how much we all liked this as it currently goes for quite a bit on the secondary market and I just know how I am going to have to get a copy. Really good game that if you see it in a charity shop you need to buy it asap.
